South Florida’s premier recreational community, Lehigh Acres, is a diverse community of approximately 38,000 residents.  The mix of retirees and young families offers a well-balanced community of friends and neighbors comfortably away from the pace of everyday life.

Lehigh Acres in Lee County, Florida, was the first post World War II Florida retirement community.  Chicago businessman Lee Ratner bought a 20,000-acre cattle ranch in eastern Lee County as a tax shelter, and he named it the Lucky Lee Ranch.  After ranching for a while, Ratner began envisioning his ranch as a brand new community.  Still growing, it has morphed into a thriving community with little or no development fronting the town.  Many vacationers who explore Lehigh Acres return to settle here.

And where do they choose to live?  There are plenty of moderately priced homes in Lehigh Acres on generous lots to choose from, along with town homes, villas, condos, and duplexes in the elegant Florida design.  There are Lehigh Acres gated communities such as Greenbriar Estates, a new planned community.  How about a Lehigh Acres carriage house set in a lush garden of tropical flowers or a home backing a Lehigh golf course?  There is waterfront property in Lee County and property with Gulf access as well as beach real estate within minutes of Lehigh.  Lehigh real estate is some of the most beautiful in the country!

Since the days of Lucky Lee, the boundaries of Lehigh Acres have stretched to cover 100 square miles and the pastures where Ratner's cattle roamed have been divided into quarter and half-acre lots for housing.  Larger tracts along major thoroughfares, such as Homestead Road And Lee Boulevard, were set aside for stores and businesses.

A semitropical climate may be Lehigh Acres' greatest asset.  Sunshine warms the days from December through March.  Summer showers cool the air, keep the landscape a lush green, and nourish an amazing variety of blooming plants and shrubs.   The quiet of the Florida countryside coupled with family activities and attractions, easy access to the Regional International Airport and excellent shopping trips.

With miles of freshwater canals, great fishing, tennis, horseback riding, and 15 miles of hiking and biking trails, people love the outdoors.  And as can be imagined, golf is very popular here.  Adminal Lehigh Golf & Resort, Mirror Lakes Course, Greentree Resorts, Copperhead Golf, Resort (North) Course, Majestic Golf Club, Westminster Golf Club add the grandeur of well-manicured open space to city life.  And many more clubs are close by in surrounding areas.

In addition to a state-of-the-art fully accredited hospital, superior-rated congregate living and nursing centers, and five modern schools, Lehigh Acres offers expanding shopping facilities, specialty shops, a number of banking institutions and top supermarkets.
