Clearwater is on a beautiful, western-Florida peninsula, bordered by the Gulf of Mexico to the west and Tampa Bay to the east.  A scenic, palm-lined highway connects the city’s mainland with its top-rated Clearwater Beach and miles of white sand.

Clearwater's 26 charming communities are multicultural stepping-stones linking today with the many peoples who have enjoyed the eternal Florida sunshine, wildlife, and waves.  Practically linked with St. Petersburg to the south, the two cities share recreational and cultural resources as well as an airport.  The nearby Tampa Bay real estate and every place in between Clearwater real estate and St. Petersburg real estate are convenient to the myriad employment opportunities in the area.

A tour of Clearwater country club executive estates and Clearwater vacation homes on any of 50 challenging but beautiful golf courses is akin to an art walk!  Upscale condos for sale in Clearwater and handsome investment properties in Clearwater draw many here for a second home in Pinellas County.  Homes for sale with a Greek influence in Tarpon Springs or possibly with the Scottish heritage of Dunedin real estate will play on anyone’s European heartstrings.

Centrally located as the County Seat, there has been a movement afoot to rejuvenate the rich heritage and historic buildings.  The Belleview Biltmore Resort, a noble example of turn-of-the-century elegance, is tucked inside a quiet cove south of town.

Take a field trip every week and there will still be more history to uncover.  Find out about Native American settlements, the arrival of Spanish conquistadors in the 16th century, or the pioneering citrus farmers, railroad barons and entrepreneurial land developers.  Investigate the evolution and engineering of cars at the Tampa Bay Automobile Museum or the Indian Mounds at several spots along Florida’s beaches.  A trip to Heritage Village at Pinewood Cultural Park in Largo will give a glimpse of life in the 19th century.  Learn about battles when you board a pirate ship during an organized tour--a great way to explore the area.

The wonder of adventure begins at the water.  Experience Fort De Soto Park, America's No. 1-rated beach and Caladesi Island, America's No. 4-rated beach, and the glorious beaches of unspoiled barrier islands.  Besides swimming, hiking and paddling, there are many exciting water activities.  The Clearwater Community Sailing Center will bring out the captain in your crew.  Hotels provide jet skis, waverunners and other personal watercraft rentals as well as the instruction to get started.  Go underwater from a parasailing boat.  There's the Suncoast Beach Trolley that offers a relaxing tour of beaches all the way down to Pass-a-Grille.

Move on to enjoy the Pinellas Trail stretching throughout the beach areas.  The secluded Caladesi Island State Park and Egmont Key State Park and full of wildlife and sunshine.  The Clearwater Marina, Adventure Island, Clearwater Marine Aquarium, the Florida Aquarium, Lowry Park Zoo, Florida Botanical Gardens and Moccasin Lake Nature Park.

Or opt for visiting a theme park!

Tremendous cultural amenities also draw thousands to the area museums, the Ruth Eckerd Hall, the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, the Museum of Science & Industry, the St.Petersburg Museums, the Florida Orchestra and the Clearwater Jazz Holiday.  There are exciting events such as festivals and theaters all year round.

Many come simply for the unique shopping with boutiques and antique shops, beachside shops, malls, shopping villages, outlet centers, specialty stores and flea market bargains.  Complement that with a splendid selection of dining options such as surfside snacking to gourmet fare in elegant resorts and bistros.  This is just the right spot for dancing, dining and fun!

If you're a sports fan, you've come to the right place. Here you can enjoy year-round professional sports, including Major League Baseball, NHL hockey and Major and NFL and Arena Football.

Pinellas County is truly a county of choice in terms of education. Magnet programs, parochial schools, continuing and advanced education, several colleges, universities and vocational-technical institutions are within short traveling distances, including St. Petersburg College and the University of South Florida.  The public school district ranks 21st of 16,000 school districts nationally.  Citizen's Academy will teach you all you need to know to make it in this town.  Tourism is the number one industry and there are a myriad of support services.  Volunteering is a popular pasttime and joy in this area.

Award-winning shores may beckon people to the clean "Blue Wave Beaches," but it's hard to resist exploring all of the wonderful facets of life here on the Gulf.
