No longer a quiet country village, youthful Brandon, Florida is one of the fastest growing areas in America. People are attracted to the strong economy, lovely affordable housing, and the convenient location. This large "suburb" of Tampa Bay in Hillsborough County is bustling with forward-thinking development and community programs. The 80 thousand residents across 196 square miles of Greater Brandon make it the largest unincorporated community in the State of Florida.
It is cozy, though. Meander through the manicured subdivisions during warm and peaceful eventide. Walking or biking, you are sure to pass friendly folks out enjoying the end of the day. Stroll over to see houses for sale in Brandon in Bloomingdale around the golf course or in Arvida Riverhills. Homes for sale in Brandon stretch south to Providence houses and Riverview houses. There are Brandon townhomes for sale in Foxmoor and villas at Panther Trace. Real estate in Brandon has grown from the Brandon family living in the wilderness to executive estates in Valrico, Seffner homes and Dover properties...and on to hundreds of beautiful Brandon neighborhoods to choose from, many of them in Brandon gated communities.
The community began in the 1850s when John Brandon purchased land in the New Hope area. He left the parcel to his son, James, and moved out of town. Returning to the area, the father bought a much bigger parcel and called it Brandon. He donated land for a church and school and when he passed on, his wife at the time was instrumental in surveying the area as a town site. The town grew in spurts throughout the first half of the 20th century, the growth driven by the citrus industry. During the second half, the area became a commuter town, suburbia of sorts, for people in the Tampa metro areas, primarily because of various freeway access options being built during that time.
The town has grown by leaps and bounds and has become a major urban area with new public schools, malls, corporate centers and industries opening daily. The population is highly educated and well to do, even though the median age is less than 35. Visitors and future residents are impressed by the community spirit, friendly atmosphere and the creative genius of the residents.
With incredible beaches a half hour away, awesome wildlife and recreation possibilities, great entertainment, dining and amusement parks including Disney World in the surrounding areas, great schools and myriad opportunities to acquire skills in several specialized areas including medicine, this area is alive and well. Besides boutique shopping in the numerous quaint towns up and down the peninsula, the enormous TownCenter mall provides lots more in one place.
The word "enthusiastic" best describes the personality of this beloved area, loved by Generation Xers, Yers and Baby Boomers, too!
